Bookkeeping services in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
For an owner in the metro who wants the books off their desk and handled by one person they can name. I’m Jack, based in Waconia and serving the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota. The monthly work is remote, and I come to you when sitting down together helps.
- Small business bookkeeping for owners with one to five employees
- Statements on a day you can count on: 20, 15 or 10 days after month-end
- Prices on this page, from $400 a month

What working with a remote bookkeeper looks like.
Remote does not mean hard to reach. It means nobody drives across the metro to pick up a folder, and the time goes into the books instead.
- Getting started
A 15-minute call by phone or video, the questionnaire, and view-only access to your bank and card accounts. QuickBooks Online is set up or cleaned up. If the books are behind, the catch-up comes first.
- Every month
Transactions come in through the bank feeds, get categorized and reconciled. When something looks off, I ask that week, not in a list at quarter end.
- Month-end
Balance sheet and income statement in your inbox within 20 days. 15 on The Foundation, with a cash-flow statement and a management report. 10 on The Partner.
- Calls
A monthly check-in on The Foundation. A financial review call twice a month on The Partner. Phone or video, at a time that works for you.
- In person
When it helps: the first sit-down, a year-end look at the numbers, or a planning conversation that goes better across a table.
Metro businesses I keep books for.
Each kind of business has its own page on what is different about its books and which tier it usually lands on.
- Golf coursesDepartments that run like separate businesses, and a season that ends. I know what your January looks like.
- Contractors and tradesTrucks, tools and jobs that need invoicing and reconciling every month, not every April.
- Landscaping and lawn careSeasonal revenue, year-round payments, and a snow contract that has to be recognized in the right month.
- Restaurants and barsDaily sales, food cost, tips and sales tax. A business where three points of margin is the difference.
- Salons and studiosBooth rent, commissions, retail and memberships. Four kinds of money in one small room.
- Auto repairParts margin, labor margin and the sales tax that only applies to one of them.
- Rental propertiesOne property or twenty. Each on its own books, with repairs and improvements sorted before tax time.
- Consultants and agenciesRetainers, projects, contractors and owner pay. A business with no inventory and every other complication.
- Law firmsA trust account that has to reconcile to the penny, retainers that are not income yet, and partners who want to see the numbers by matter.
- NonprofitsRestricted funds, grant reporting, a board that wants to see the numbers, and a Form 990 at year end.
- Dental practicesProduction versus collections, supply and lab overhead, an associate to pay, and equipment that costs as much as a house.
- EcommercePayouts that hide fees and refunds, inventory that has to be counted, and sales tax in more states than you meant to sell in.
Three tiers, the same price anywhere in Minnesota.
The starting number is on each one. Most owners land on The Foundation.
The Foundation
From $600/ month
For an owner who wants more of the accounting handled. Most people land here.
More about The Foundation→The Partner
From $1,800/ month
For an owner who wants a second set of eyes on the numbers and an ongoing financial partner.
More about The Partner→Payroll is an add-on on The Foundation and The Partner. Catch-up is quoted separately. Take the questionnaire and I will bring the tier and the number to the call.
One person, from Waconia.
Seven years across public accounting and corporate controllership, including three in audit at CliftonLarsonAllen, and today a controller managing the accounting for more than 40 entities. I’m a CPA licensed in Minnesota and hold the QuickBooks Online Level 1 and Level 2 certifications.
There is no team and no ticket queue. The person who reconciles your accounts is the person who answers the phone.
“Jack took over the books for Snack Club this fall. The close shows up on the day he says it will, and the report is one I can actually read. When something looks off he asks that week, not in a list at quarter end.”
What metro owners ask.
If yours is not here, the 15-minute call is where it gets answered.
No. The work happens in QuickBooks Online and through your bank feeds, so a business in St. Paul gets the same service as one in Waconia. What matters is that you can reach the person doing the work, and here that is me.
Yes, when it helps. A first meeting, a year-end conversation or a planning session can be in person anywhere in the metro. The monthly work itself does not need it.
Most of it never needs sending, because the bank and card feeds bring the transactions in. For the rest, a photo uploaded to QuickBooks or an email does it. No boxes of paper.
Yes. I keep books for businesses across greater Minnesota the same way. Where you are does not change the price or the timing.
Here, The Basics starts at $400 a month, The Foundation at $600 and The Partner at $1,800, the same anywhere in Minnesota. For what the rest of the market charges and what drives the price, see the cost guide.
Fifteen minutes, wherever you are in the metro.
Fill out the questionnaire and I will come to the call with the tier and the price. Or just book the call.
